The committee formed to review applications of deprived retired government officials submitted its second report to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday. The report was handed over by the committee convener, former Finance Secretary Zakir Ahmed Khan, at the chief adviser’s office in Dhaka.

The five-member committee, which includes representatives from the Cabinet Division, Ministry of Public Administration, Finance Division, and Law and Justice Division, conducted its review in two phases. The first phase, completed on December 10, 2024, covered applications from officers at deputy secretary level and above. The second phase considered applications from deprived officers, excluding administration cadre, holding Grade-3 or higher posts.

A total of 318 applications were submitted in the second phase. Of these, 68 fell outside the committee’s jurisdiction and 40 were incomplete, leaving 210 applications for review. The committee held 14 meetings to scrutinize these applications, with a representative of the Ministry of Public Administration present during deliberations.

Following careful evaluation of all information and recommendations, the committee proposed promotions for 78 officers: 12 in Grade-1, 32 in Grade-2, and 34 in Grade-3. The recommendations include three-step promotions for six officers, two-step for 17 officers, and one-step for 55 officers. Promotions were not recommended for 132 officers, with detailed reasons provided for each case.

M Siraz Uddin Miah, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser, was also present during the submission.
