Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed administered the oath to seven new members of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC). The oath-taking ceremony took place on Sunday at 11:15 AM in the Judges’ Lounge of the Supreme Court. The event was conducted by Registrar General Dr. Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan.
The newly appointed members are Professor Mohammad Sharif Hossain and Professor Arfina Osman from Dhaka University, Professor Dr. ATM Farid Uddin, a BCS Health Cadre officer, Brigadier General (Retd.) Mohammad Anwarul Islam, Retired Additional Inspector General of Police Mohammad Munir Hossain, Professor Shahinaz Sarker from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Shabbir Ahmed Chowdhury, a retired officer from the Foreign Service Cadre.
According to Article 139(1) of the Constitution, the new members will serve a term of five years or until they reach 65 years of age, whichever comes first.
With these appointments, the PSC’s total membership has now reached 15, with Professor Mobasher Monem serving as the chairman of the commission.
