The temperature in Chuadanga soared by 2.9°C within a day, reaching a sweltering 39.7°C on Thursday, disrupting daily life with extreme heat and humidity.
Chuadanga experienced a sharp rise in temperature on Thursday, recording 39.7 degrees Celsius by 6 PM, according to Jaminnur Rahman, in-charge of the local weather observatory. Earlier in the day, at 3 PM, the mercury stood at 39.2°C with a humidity level of 34%, which later increased to 51% by evening.
This temperature surge marks one of the highest recorded this season, just short of the season’s peak of 39.8°C logged on March 28. On Wednesday, the region recorded a milder 36.8°C, indicating a rapid day-to-day rise of 2.9°C.
Weather officials have warned of further discomfort as a moderate heatwave continues to grip the district. Forecasts suggest one to three mild to moderate heatwaves, along with the possibility of one or two severe spells in the ongoing season. There is also a likelihood of one or two cyclones forming later in the month.
The persistent heat is taking a toll on both people and nature. Residents are struggling to cope as the oppressive weather affects daily routines and health conditions. Meteorologists say the month could end with increased climatic instability, heightening concerns of storm development in the region.
