Since this morning (Sunday), vehicular movement across multiple areas of Dhaka has been severely disrupted due to a blockade imposed by CNG drivers. Protesting legal actions related to fare meters, the drivers have obstructed roads, bringing traffic to a standstill.
Reports indicate that key locations, including Rampura, Mirpur 14, and the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, have been blocked since the early hours of the day.
On-ground observations reveal massive traffic congestion throughout the capital, causing significant distress for office commuters, students, and the general public. Many are facing delays in reaching their destinations.
The drivers are demanding the revocation of newly implemented regulations, an increase in fares, and an end to police harassment. They have vowed to continue their blockade until their demands are met.
Liberty News National Correspondent Reports that law enforcement personnel are present at the scene. According to the administration, discussions with the drivers are ongoing to bring the situation under control.
