Bangladesh Coast Guard has destroyed a large amount of narcotics,which were seized during different operations, at Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar district.
The event held at BCG Station in the upazila on Friday.
In a press conference, Teknaf BCG Station commander Salahuddin Rashid Tanveer said that 12 anti-drug operations were conducted from February 27 to April 16 this year. In those operations, a total of 9,06,470 pieces of yaba pills and 60.4 kilograms of hemp were recovered from different areas in the upazila.
The estimated market value of the seized drugs amounts to Tk 45 crore, 50 lakh, and 47 thousand.
The commander further added that cases and general diaries were filed with several police stations in this regard. At least 980 pieces of yaba and 175 grams of hemp were submitted to police station as evidence.
Cox’s Bazar Court Chief Judicial Magistrate directed the destruction of remaining 9,05,490 pieces of yaba and 60.225 kilograms of hemp.
