Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that the Election Commission wants to move forward by learning from past mistakes.
“We have only one agenda—to deliver a credible election to the nation. It is our responsibility to organise a good election, and for that, we will need everyone’s cooperation,” he said.
He made the remarks on Tuesday at 10:30am during a dialogue with representatives of domestic election observer organisations, ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. The CEC urged observers to work as partners of the Election Commission.
The CEC said, “New observer organisations must be provided with necessary training.” He also called for caution to ensure that those appointed as observers are not involved in politics or affiliated with any political party.
He urged observers to actively assist in ensuring transparency and accountability in the electoral process. The CEC placed special emphasis on two key issues for the observer organisations.
