Zimbabwe’s head coach, Justin Simmons, is confident about his team’s prospects ahead of their upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. The Zimbabwean squad for the series, consisting of 15 players, has already been announced, with the team set to visit Bangladesh later this month for two Test matches.
Simmons’ optimism stems from the strong squad selected by Zimbabwe Cricket, which includes the return of experienced players such as Sean Williams and Craig Ervine. In addition, long-time absentees Wellington Masakadza and Tafadzwa Sigaba are also making a comeback. The only new face in the squad is Vincent Masakesa.
The first Test will take place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on April 20, while the second and final match of the series will be held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, starting on April 28.
Speaking about the squad selection, Simmons expressed excitement, stating, “We are very excited to enter a phase where Test cricket is our sole focus. I am confident that the players in this squad will develop both individually and as a team. They will face new challenges in different conditions, and the team has been selected to provide the best balance to tackle any adverse situations that may arise.”
