Couple pours kerosene, 5-year-old sets them on fire!

In Jashore, a husband and wife, in a fit of rage following a family dispute, poured kerosene on themselves. Subsequently, their five-year-old son, unknowingly and while playing, ignited a gas lighter, causing the couple to catch fire sustain burns.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon (February 19) in Kauria Rajapur village of Panisara Union in Jhikargachha Upazila, Jashore. The victims are Hira Das (40) and his wife Prabhati Das (35), both sanitation workers from the same area.

Neighbors of Hira Das reported that frequent family disputes occurred between Hira and his wife. On Wednesday afternoon, they had another argument, which escalated to a physical altercation. At one point, Hira & Prabhati threatened to commit suicide, poured kerosene on each other in front of their house on the road. At that moment, their five-year-old son Nisan, unaware of the situation, lit a gas lighter he was holding, causing the couple to catch fire instantly.

Neighbors then rushed to extinguish the fire and admitted them to Jhikargachha Upazila Health Complex. From there, doctors referred them to Jashore General Hospital.

Dr. Zobayer Hossain from the emergency department of Jashore General Hospital informed Liberty News that the burnt couple had been admitted. They sustained burns on their hands and other parts of their bodies, but both are out of danger.
