A Dhaka court on Monday ordered the formal arrest of former Law Minister Anisul Huq, former adviser to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Salman F. Rahman, and five others in three separate attempted murder cases connected with the July uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak passed the order after the police produced the accused before the court and submitted a petition to officially show them arrested.
The other accused are former ministers Rashed Khan Menon and Hasanul Haq Inu, former Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam, former lawmaker Sadek Khan, and former lawmaker Barrister Sayedul Haque Sumon.
According to court sources, Anisul, Salman, Hasanul Haq Inu, Rashed Khan Menon, and Atiqul Islam were shown arrested in the attempted murder case of Shahriyar Hossain Rokon of Mohammadpur Police Station.
Additionally, Sadek Khan was shown arrested in the attempted murder case of lawyer Abdul Aset Shamim filed with Mugda Police Station and the attempted murder case of Shahriyar Hossain Rokon of Mohammadpur Police Station.
Barrister Sumon is also shown arrested in the attempted murder case of Abdul Aset Shamim.
