The court has ordered the seizure of a Gulshan apartment owned by Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, amid ongoing corruption investigations.

On Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib directed authorities to seize a Gulshan flat worth Tk 57 lacs belonging to Saima Wazed Putul, who reportedly fled to India. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the petition, citing concerns over potential asset transfer during an ongoing probe.

ACC Deputy Director Monirul Islam, the investigation officer, submitted the seizure request. Confirming the development, ACC spokesperson Akhtarul Islam stated that the court approved the application after a hearing.

According to the ACC, Putul was allegedly attempting to transfer or dispose of the immovable asset, which could jeopardize the integrity of the investigation. The commission emphasized that securing the property is essential for fair inquiry.

This follows an earlier court order on March 11, which seized the Dhanmondi residence ‘Sudha Sadan,’ owned by Sheikh Hasina’s children, Sajeeb Wazed Joy and Saima Wazed Putul. Additional properties registered under Sheikh Rehana, her children Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby and Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, were also frozen, with a combined market value exceeding Tk 8.52 crore.

Furthermore, multiple court orders have frozen a total of 124 bank accounts linked to Sheikh Hasina and her close relatives, holding over Tk 394 crore. On March 4, 14 bank accounts belonging to the Saima-led Shuchona Foundation were also blocked.

The court’s latest move signals a deepening of the financial investigation involving members of Bangladesh’s former ruling family.
