Court orders seizure of NASA group’s Nazrul’s 6 houses and 8 plots

A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of six houses and eight plots owned by NASA Group chairman Nazrul Islam Majumder. Additionally, shares worth Tk 560.6 crore from 55 of his companies have been frozen.

On Thursday, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), according to ACC spokesperson Akhtarul Islam.

The seized assets include a 14-story commercial building on Plot 47 of Gulshan South Commercial Area, valued at Tk 50 crore, and another 14-story residential property on Plot 3 of Block SE(D) in Gulshan, worth Tk 70 crore. Other confiscated properties are a two-story house in Mohakhali (Tk 4 crore), a four-story house in the same area (Tk 6 crore), another house in Mohakhali (Tk 4 crore), and a three-story building in Tejgaon Industrial Area, valued at Tk 50 crore.

Liberty News’ crime correspondent states that on February 16, ACC Assistant Director Mohammad Shahjahan Miraj filed a case against Nazrul Islam, accusing him of amassing Tk 781.3 crore in illegal wealth. The charges were filed under Section 27(1) of the ACC Act 2004 and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947.
