The High Court has temporarily suspended the recruitment of 3,534 individuals under the Public Service Commission (PSC) for three months. The ruling was made on Monday by the dual bench of Justice Md. Akram Hossain Chowdhury and Justice K M Rashiduzzaman Raja after hearing the case.
According to Supreme Court lawyer Md. Maksud Ullah, PSC had issued a recruitment notification on October 26, 2021, for various positions including Junior Instructor and Physical Education Instructor under the 9th and 10th grades (non-cadre) within technical and madrasa education boards. The recruitment process followed with exams on March 18, 2023, and subsequently, a circular was issued on January 23, 2025, appointing 3,534 individuals, with instructions to join on January 29, 2025.
Following the hearing, the High Court issued a rule questioning why this recruitment should not be declared illegal, and ordered a three-month suspension of the appointments.
Liberty News’ court correspondent reports that the case was heard by Senior Advocate Barrister Kaiser Kamal on behalf of the 18 petitioners, with support from lawyers A Z M Nurul Amin, Md. Maksud Ullah, Md. Rukunuzzaman, Abu Saeed Khan, Shafikul Islam, and others.
