Bangladesh has reported two new Covid-19-related deaths and 15 fresh infections in the 24-hour period between 8am on Wednesday (12 June) and 8am on Thursday (13 June), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the latest figures, the country’s total Covid-19 death toll has risen to 29,502, while the confirmed caseload now stands at 2,051,800.

The DGHS stated that both of the latest fatalities were women — one from Dhaka and the other from Chattogram.

A total of 174 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, yielding a daily test positivity rate of 8.62%. The country’s overall positivity rate remains at 13.05%.

According to the health authorities, the recovery rate remains at 98.42%, while the death rate stands at 1.44%. The total number of recovered patients now stands at 2,019,401.

Health experts have expressed concern over a recent rise in Covid-19 infections, urging the public to remain cautious and follow health safety guidelines, particularly in urban areas where the infection rate appears to be higher.

The DGHS continues to monitor the situation and has advised hospitals to remain alert in case of further increases in cases.
