Previously, around 19 different organizations’ approvals were required for clearing imported and exported goods, leading to significant hassle and harassment for importers and exporters. To eliminate this burden, the National Single Window (NSW) online platform has launched a service, integrating all relevant agencies into one web tab. This allows businesses to receive services without any hassle or inconvenience. The service started at Dhaka Customs House on Sunday morning.
On Monday at 12 PM, Mohammad Moyazzem Hossain, Member of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), inaugurated the National Single Window’s Help Desk Service at the Dhaka Customs House. Also present at the ceremony were the project director Jewel Ahmed and Dhaka Customs House Commissioner Mohammad Zakir Hossain.
During the event, Mohammad Moyazzem Hossain mentioned that through this system, importers and exporters can submit necessary information on an online platform to obtain licenses and permits. Based on the submitted information, certificates will be issued, allowing for quicker clearance of goods. Once the system is fully operational, the process of import-export will become easier, goods clearance from the port will be faster, and business costs will reduce.
Dhaka Customs House Commissioner Mohammad Zakir Hossain stated that the Single Window or Single Process will truly enhance business and transform the environment digitally. We have improved the system and processes. From now on, business owners will be able to obtain all necessary licenses and permits related to import and export through this platform online. As a result, there will be no need to visit offices to collect paperwork. Additionally, by February 28, the remaining 15 organizations will be brought under the BSWW, completing the system. Through this system, importers and exporters will be able to quickly clear goods based on certificates issued from the information provided.
Liberty News’ national correspondent reports that in the past, almost 19 organizations’ permissions were required for clearing imported and exported goods. Importers and exporters had to face extensive harassment to obtain those permissions. To relieve businesses from this hassle, the National Single Window (NSW) online platform has started providing services. This platform connects all organizations in one web tab, allowing businesses to access services without facing any hassle or difficulties.
