If minimal reforms are implemented, the elections must take place in December. He further emphasized that preparations, including updating the voter list, are ongoing, and the schedule may be announced by October to allow time for these preparations.
The CEC also addressed the ongoing efforts to ensure the transparency and quality of the voter list, mentioning that 1.7 million deceased voters had been identified. He added that this number could increase as the review continues. The commission is working towards ensuring the elections are free and fair, stating that they are not working to implement anyone’s agenda but rather to conduct a clean election. He expressed hope that the law and order situation would stabilize before the election.
