BNP’s Assistant International Affairs Secretary Barrister Rumeen Farhana warned that any delay in holding elections would hinder democracy, increase unemployment, and deepen economic instability in Bangladesh.

Speaking at a BNP workshop titled 31-Point Structural Reform and Public Engagement” on Thursday at Nazma Garden Auditorium in Dinajpur, Rumeen Farhana emphasized the urgency of conducting elections under a neutral interim government.

“The longer the delay in elections, the more democracy will be compromised. Investment will decline, instability and unemployment will rise, law and order will deteriorate, and economic challenges will worsen,” she said.

Farhana highlighted the pivotal role of the Zia family in Bangladesh’s political transformation and urged BNP activists to work for the welfare of the people.

The event was inaugurated by BNP’s Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, who stated, “For the last 17 years, the fascist Hasina regime has launched full-scale attacks on BNP. We never compromised—had we done so, we wouldn’t have faced imprisonment and torture.”

He stressed the need to restore people’s power through fair elections and warned that public sentiment could overthrow any government, as “Hasina too will have to flee if the people rise.”

Tuku also declared, “Tomorrow’s Bangladesh will be led by Tarique Rahman.” He called for unity among BNP leaders and activists to build a stronger nation.

The workshop also featured discussions on the 31-point reform agenda by BNP Media Cell Convener Dr. Maudud Hossain Alomgir Pavel, along with members Morshed Hossain Khan, Fazlur Rahman Khokon, and Advocate Farzana Sharmin Putul.

Chaired by Dinajpur BNP President Advocate Mofazzal Hossain Dulal and moderated by Media Cell member Abdus Sattar Patwari, the event was attended by senior party leaders including A.Z.M. Rezwanul Haque, Alhaj Akhtaruzzaman Mia, war veteran Mokhsed Ali Mongolia, and Moharram Hossain. Each BNP unit sent 10 representatives to the training program.
