Dengue : 429 more cases reported in 24 hrs

A total of 429 new dengue cases were reported across the country in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, pushing the overall number of cases this year to 17,218, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the newly infected patients, the highest number — 133 cases — were reported in Barishal Division (outside the City Corporation areas), followed by 78 in Chattogram, 55 in Khulna, 48 in Rajshahi, 24 in Dhaka Division (outside the City Corporation), 11 in Mymensingh, and 6 in Rangpur Division.

In the capital, 18 new cases were reported from Dhaka North City Corporation and 56 from Dhaka South City Corporation.

The DGHS confirmed that no new deaths were reported during this period. The death toll from dengue remains unchanged at 62 this year.

Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives, with 101,214 recorded cases and 100,040 recoveries.

Health officials continue to urge the public to remain cautious and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, especially during the monsoon season.
