Dengue claims one life, 169 hospitalised in 24 hrs

One more person has died from dengue, and 169 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With this, the total number of dengue-related deaths this year has reached 29, while confirmed cases now stand at 5,739.

The DGHS said the latest fatality occurred in Chattogram Division. Among the new cases, Barishal Division reported the highest with 101 infections, followed by 28 in Chattogram (outside city corporations), five in Dhaka (outside city corporations), and 35 from within Dhaka North and South City Corporations.

As of Saturday, 633 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at hospitals across the country.

Last year, Bangladesh recorded 575 dengue deaths, with over 101,000 infections and more than 100,000 recoveries.
