The daily number of dengue cases in Bangladesh has reached the highest figure so far in 2025, with 429 new infections reported in the 24 hours until Monday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of dengue cases this year has climbed to 10,296. However, no new deaths were reported during this period, keeping the death toll at 42.
Barishal Division, excluding city corporation areas, recorded the highest number of new infections at 149. Other divisions also reported significant spikes: Chattogram (57 cases), Dhaka (61), Rajshahi (54), and Khulna (21).
Within Dhaka city, 42 new cases were reported under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and 45 cases under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
Currently, 1,167 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at hospitals across the country. Meanwhile, 358 patients recovered and were discharged within the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries to 9,087 this year.
In 2024, Bangladesh recorded a total of 1,01,214 dengue cases, with 575 deaths and 1,00,040 recoveries.
Health authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and continue eliminating mosquito breeding grounds to avoid another large-scale outbreak.
