Six more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 313 this year.
In the 24-hour span, 1,195 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 78,543 in 2025.
Among the fatalities – three women and three men – two each were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and Barishal division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest cases, 155 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 132 in Chattogram division, 278 in Dhaka division, 220 under DNCC, 115 under DSCC, 114 in Khulna division, 59 in Mymensingh division, 113 in Rajshahi division, and nine in Sylhet division.
DGHS data shows that men account for 62.3% of infections so far this year, while women represent 37.7%.
Currently, 3,337 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Dengue killed 575 people in 2024, with 1,01,214 cases recorded. The previous year saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 3,21,179 hospitalisations.
