Six more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Wednesday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 349 this year.
In the 24-hour span, 788 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 87,712 in 2025.
Among the fatalities – four women and two men – three were reported in Rajshahi division, two in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and one in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest cases, 87 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 108 in Chattogram division, 130 in Dhaka division, 166 under DNCC, 86 under DSCC, 66 in Khulna division, 54 in Mymensingh division, 88 in Rajshahi division, and three in Sylhet division.
DGHS data shows that men account for 62.3% of infections so far this year, while women represent 37.7%.
Currently, 2,793 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Dengue killed 575 people in 2024, with 1,01,214 cases recorded. The previous year saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 3,21,179 hospitalisations.
