Thick fog covered the skies over Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka from midnight, reducing visibility and preventing three flights from landing. The affected flights were later diverted to Kolkata International Airport.

According to airport authorities, heavy fog disrupted flight operations, causing delays in both takeoffs and landings. The situation persisted from 2:30 AM Sunday night until 9 AM Monday.

Shahjalal International Airport’s Executive Director, Group Captain Mohammad Kamrul Islam, stated, “Several flights were diverted to Kolkata due to dense fog.”

Due to heavy fog, three international flights were unable to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka and were diverted to Kolkata. These included two Kuwait Airways flights from Kuwait City and a Salam Air flight from Muscat, Oman. The flights later arrived in Dhaka after 9 AM on Monday.

Additionally, 16 other flights were delayed between midnight and 9 AM due to poor visibility. Affected flights included Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights from Dubai, Muscat, Rome, and Jeddah; Emirates flights from Dubai; Gulf Air from Bahrain; and US-Bangla Airlines flights from Dubai, Doha, Sharjah, Jeddah, and Singapore. A Druk Air flight from Paro was also among those delayed.

According to Liberty News’ national correspondents, air traffic congestion occurred in the morning as multiple flights awaited clearance for takeoff and landing. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has warned that foggy conditions may persist and intensify in the coming days.
