Horbinder Singh, a 40-year-old from Punjab, recounts a harrowing 40-hour flight from the US to India, where he and other undocumented immigrants endured physical and mental torment, including being shackled and dragged to the restroom during the journey.

Horbinder Singh, one of 104 undocumented immigrants deported from the US, described the experience as “worse than hell.” The flight, which landed at Amritsar International Airport on Wednesday, was marked by severe mistreatment. Passengers were kept shackled at all times, even during meals, and had to beg for restroom access, only to be dragged there by flight attendants. Singh said, “It wasn’t just physically painful, but mentally exhausting.”

The nightmare began eight months ago when Singh, promising a better future for his wife, Kuljinder Kaur, and their two children, set out to the US through the “dunk route” in search of a better life. However, he was caught in a dangerous and fraudulent immigration scheme that drained his family’s savings and left them in debt. Despite his struggles, Singh regularly updated Kuljinder with videos of his journey.

Liberty News’ international correspondent states that, Kuljinder was devastated when she learned her husband was being deported. She had last spoken with him in mid-January and had since filed a complaint against the travel agent who had deceived them. The family, now burdened with debt and heartache, had hoped for a better future but found themselves plunged into further despair.
