Mohiuddin, Bogra : A discussion meeting and Iftar Mahfil were organized by the Bogura Sadar Upazila Journalists’ Forum on Saturday evening at Hotel Paradise Restaurant in Matidali Biman Mor. The event was presided over by the organization’s president, Shahidul Islam Akash, and attended by distinguished guests and journalists.
Prominent social worker and 17th Ward councilor candidate Tajuddin Ahmed Suman, renowned businessman and father of cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim, Alhaj Mahbub Hamid Tara, Bogura city BNP executive member Saiduzzaman Hira, district Jubo Dal committee member Golam Mostofa Sohag, Daily Duronto Sangbad news editor Riasat Mamun Mausum, Mahasthangarh Press Club president Saidur Rahman Saju, Bogura District Online Press Club president Maksud Alam Hawlader, general secretary Nazrul Islam Doya, Bogura Reporters Unity general secretary Faisal Hossain Soni, Bogura Sadar Police Station sub-inspector Anisur Rahman, ASI Ahmad Ali, and several other media personalities were present at the event.
During the discussion, speakers highlighted the crucial role of journalists in society, describing them as the “mirror of society.” They emphasized that journalists should not be intimidated by threats and must continue their objective reporting to expose social injustices, crimes, and corruption. They also acknowledged the risks journalists face while collecting information to contribute to national and societal development.
The discussion session featured speeches by journalist Golzar Rahman and the treasurer of the Sadar Upazila Journalists’ Forum, Sakhawat Hossain. The event was moderated by journalist Shafayat Sojal, with overall coordination by Rasul Khandakar and Imon Sheikh. Other notable attendees included coordinator Kawsar Siam, senior journalist and religious affairs secretary of the forum Fazlul Haque, organizational secretary Abdullah Al Noman Nibir, publicity secretary Ripon Mia, and members Jewel Rana, Enamul Haque, and Rocky Hasan.
The program concluded with a special prayer for the peace and prosperity of the country, led by Mufti Maulana Mohammad Hossain Ahmed, the Imam of Sadar Upazila Complex Jame Mosque. Following the prayer, guests participated in the Iftar Mahfil.
