The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued traffic guidelines to ensure smooth transportation and public safety during the Bishwa Ijtema, especially on February 2 and 5, the days of the Akheri Munajat.

The DMP has outlined alternative routes and set restrictions on vehicle movements around the Ijtema ground in Tongi to prevent traffic congestion. As per the guidelines, heavy vehicles including buses, trucks, and covered vans are advised to avoid key intersections, such as Abdullahpur and Dhaur Bridge, and instead take the Mohakhali-Bijoy Sarani-Gabtoli route starting at 4 am on February 2 and 5.

For vehicles traveling from North Bengal, drivers are instructed to bypass Kamarpara and Abdullahpur crossings and take alternate routes via Savar, Gabtoli, or Dhaur Bridge toward Mirpur embankment. Similarly, vehicles traveling via Airport Road should use the routes of Kuril Flyover, Pragati Sarani, and Bishwa Road.

On the days of the Akheri Munajat, vehicles from the 300-feet road will be diverted to Pragati Sarani and Kuril Flyover Loop-4 instead of Loop-2. Additionally, drivers are advised to avoid exits on the Dhaka Elevated Expressway bound for Kawla or the airport.

To facilitate smooth transit for airport passengers, the DMP will provide transport services from Padma U-loop, Kuratoli Loop-2, and Nikunja-1 gates to the airport. Devotees traveling on foot are recommended to use the Pontoon or Kamarpara Bridges over the Turag River to access the Ijtema grounds.

Moreover, vehicles carrying pilgrims must park in designated areas with the driver’s name and mobile number clearly visible. In light of the recent collapse of the Bailey Bridge on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway, drivers are encouraged to use the Azampur flyover instead, while pedestrians should avoid crossing the flyover on foot.

Liberty News’ national correspondent reports that the DMP has prohibited parking on both sides of the road from Khilkhet to Abdullahpur via Dhaur Bridge, urging the public’s full cooperation to ensure a safe and smooth journey for all during the Ijtema.
