Veteran actress Dolly Zahur is set to be honored with the prestigious ‘Mother Award’ on May 11, marking a significant recognition of her impactful portrayals of motherly characters in Bangladeshi cinema and television.

Legendary Bangladeshi actress Dolly Zahur, who has received numerous accolades throughout her career, will be awarded the Mother Award this year on World Mother’s Day. The honor, introduced in 2022, is organized annually by Madiha Marsiha Advertising and initiated by the Ali-Rupa Foundation to recognize actresses who have made a lasting impression through motherly roles on screen.

Expressing her gratitude, Zahur said, “I have been blessed with many national awards, including the National Film Award and Lifetime Achievement Award. But this one feels unique—it’s the first time I’m being recognized specifically for playing mother roles, which makes it deeply meaningful to me. I thank the organizers for this thoughtful honor.”

Dolly Zahur made her film debut with Oshadharon and rose to prominence with her performance in Shonkhonil Karagar, based on the novel by Humayun Ahmed. She later starred in Aguner Poroshmoni, another of Ahmed’s celebrated works. Her portrayal of Rabeya in Shonkhonil Karagar, directed by Mostafizur Rahman, earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress.

The Mother Award has previously been conferred on iconic actresses Shabnam (2022), Dilara Zaman (2023), and Anwara (2024), all celebrated for their memorable mother roles.

Zahur’s upcoming recognition continues the legacy of honoring cinematic motherhood, reinforcing her place as a beloved maternal figure in the hearts of audiences.
