Dr. Yunus departs for Bangkok to attend BIMSTEC summit

Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor, has departed for Bangkok, Thailand, to participate in the BIMSTEC Summit.

On Thursday morning at around 9 AM, Dr. Yunus and his delegation left Dhaka aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight bound for Bangkok.

There is a possibility that Dr. Yunus will hold a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the summit. Dr. Khalilur Rahman, the Chief Advisor’s special envoy, mentioned this at a press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Dr. Khalilur Rahman stated that as the next chairman of BIMSTEC, Dr. Yunus needs to discuss future plans with the heads of member states. Regarding a potential meeting with the Indian Prime Minister, he said, “A request has been made for a meeting with Narendra Modi, and we are hopeful that it will take place.”
