The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a suspect named Mamun for attempting to kill a police officer by driving a car recklessly. The arrested Mamun is the son of Johur Uddin Mollah from the East Sanyasirchar area of the upazila.
This information was provided in a press release sent by RAB on Wednesday.
According to RAB sources, on February 9th, around 3:00 PM, on the Dhaka-Khulna highway near the Pona Sandfield in Kashiani upazila, Gopalganj, the speed of a private car was detected to be excessive by a speed gun machine used by the highway police while the police were on regular checkpoint duty. When the police on duty signaled the car to stop, the driver slowed down slightly but verbally abused the police officers. At that moment, the driver recklessly sped up, ran over one of the police officers on duty. The officer suffered a broken right leg and head injuries with heavy bleeding. The injured officer was taken to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor referred him to Dhaka Medical College for advanced treatment.
Following an operation, RAB-8, CPC-3, Madaripur Camp, RAB-6, Bhatipara Camp conducted a joint raid early Tuesday morning and arrested the private car driver, Lal Mia alias Mamun, from Shibchar.
