A bus of Alam Asia Paribahan was set on fire by unidentified miscreants in Phulbaria upazila of Mymensingh early Tuesday, leaving the driver dead.
The deceased was identified as Julhas Mia (35), son of Sazu Mia of Kaiyarchala village under the same upazila.
According to police, the incident occurred around 3:15am in the Valukjan area, when miscreants torched the parked bus, completely burning it down. Driver Julhas, who was inside the vehicle at the time, was burned alive and died on the spot.
Phulbaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rokonuzzaman said the body has been recovered and sent for autopsy. “A drive is underway to arrest those involved in the arson attack,” he added.
