A 32-year-old man named Roni, accused in a drug case, was hacked to death by rival drug dealers in Narayanganj’s Bandar upazila on Sunday night over previous enmity.
The incident took place at Elahipolli Mor on the Kandipara Road in Kolagachia Union of the upazila. The deceased, Roni, was the son of Salimuddin alias Soilla Mia of the Madhobpasha area.
Locals reported that several individuals attacked Roni with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to Narayanganj General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tarikul Islam told Amar Desh that the murder appears to have been motivated by longstanding rivalry between drug dealers. Police arrived at the scene immediately after receiving information and launched an operation. One suspect, Abdul Sattar, has been detained in connection with the killing.
Liberty News’ crime correspondent states that Police also confirmed that Roni had a criminal record and was involved in drug-related activities.
