The DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh (DBA) has formally requested state-owned enterprises and multinational companies to get listed in the stock market. The request was made in a letter signed by DBA President Saiful Islam and addressed to Chief Adviser Dr. Mohammad Yunus on Tuesday.

The letter emphasized that Bangladesh has numerous profitable state-owned enterprises in commercial and infrastructure sectors. Their listing in the stock market would ensure a steady supply of high-quality stocks, balancing demand and supply dynamics.

Additionally, the DBA highlighted that many well-governed multinational corporations, some operating in Bangladesh for over a century, have significantly contributed to the country’s infrastructure, financial sector, and human resources. The association urged the government to directly offload its shares in these multinational firms at fair market value through stock market listings.

Liberty News’ economic correspondent states that expressing optimism, the DBA President stated that the Chief Adviser would consider the request seriously and take necessary steps to implement it for the greater interest of the capital market.
