The timeline for distributing and submitting nomination papers for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union elections has been extended by one day each.
In a notification signed on Monday night, Chief Returning Officer Prof Mohammad Jasim Uddin said the extension was made due to the overwhelming enthusiasm among students.
He noted that many candidates were unable to collect forms within the stipulated time. “In the interest of ensuring everyone’s democratic rights, the deadline has been extended,” read the notification.
As per the revised schedule, the distribution of nomination papers will continue until 5pm on Tuesday, while the last date for submission has been reset to 5pm on Wednesday.
The long-awaited DUCSU election is scheduled to be held on 9 September. The polls are generating significant participation and excitement among students, as they are being held after a six-year hiatus.
