Police on Thursday afternoon recovered the body of an undergraduate student from the East West University campus.
Officers from Badda Police Station found the corpse of Mushfiquzzaman, 20, in the middle of Dr Farash Uddin Building and the university main building. The body has been sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Initial probe suggests Mushfiquzzaman committed suicide, said Badda Police Station Officer-in-Charge Habibur Rahman. He could have accidently fallen off the roof, police said.
A full probe and the autopsy report would confirm the cause behind the death, Habibur Rahman said.
However, university sources confirmed there was no major injury mark on the body as can be expected due to a fall from high altitude.
University records and CCTV footage confirms that Mushfiquzzaman left his classroom around 3:10pm, and later, reached the roof.
