EC doesn’t want to miss December election timeline : CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Nasir Uddin has stated that the Election Commission is committed to adhering to the December timeline for the national election and is taking necessary preparations to meet it.

On Monday (March 10), while speaking to the media at the Election Commission office in Agargaon, CEC Kazi Nasir Uddin confirmed that the Commission aims to hold the national election in December, adhering to the established timeline. He emphasized that to meet this schedule, the election schedule must be announced by October.

In response to a question about whether the national election process is on track, the CEC clarified, “From the day the Chief Advisor made the announcement, we’ve been preparing for the national election. It’s the Chief Advisor who will officially announce the national election date.”

Liberty News’ national correspondent states that regarding the meeting with British High Commissioner Sarah Cook, the CEC mentioned that they discussed the preparations for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election. “We shared our preparations with the High Commissioner and requested assistance, particularly in training polling agents and observers. They expressed willingness to help and inquired about the kind of support needed,” the CEC added.
