The ongoing heatwave is expected to persist on Eid day, with no likelihood of rainfall anywhere in the country, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Sunday (March 30).

Currently, 22 districts, including Dhaka, are experiencing heatwave conditions. The highest temperature was recorded in Jashore at 39.4°C, slightly lower than Saturday’s 41°C. However, meteorologist Hafizur Rahman stated that temperatures are unlikely to drop further.

“If Eid falls on Monday or Tuesday, the heatwave will continue with no significant temperature changes and no chance of rainfall,” he added.

The BMD reported that a trough of low pressure extends over West Bengal and nearby regions, while the seasonal low lies over the South Bay of Bengal.

Among the affected districts, temperatures were recorded as follows: Badalgachhi (36°C), Bogura (36.2°C), Barishal and Patuakhali (36.5°C), Kumar Khali, Srimangal, and Narayanganj (37°C), Mongla (37.2°C), Satkhira and Aricha (37.5°C), Dhaka (37.8°C), Koyra and Tangail (38°C), Gopalganj (38.2°C), Faridpur (38.3°C), Khulna and Rajshahi (38.4°C), Chuadanga (38.5°C), Ishwardi (38.8°C), and Baghahbari in Rajshahi (39°C).

According to the 24-hour forecast from Monday morning, the weather will remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain stable, while nighttime temperatures may rise by 1-2°C.

On Tuesday, similar dry conditions will prevail, though isolated thunderstorms with lightning may occur in parts of Sylhet. Daytime temperatures might decrease slightly, but nighttime temperatures will remain unchanged.
