The Ministry of Youth and Sports has announced plans to establish modern sports hubs in all eight divisions of Bangladesh, with technical and financial assistance from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan shared the update following a friendly football match organized for underprivileged children at the national stadium on Sunday (April 6), in celebration of International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
“In the beginning, we were considering building a central sports village. But as part of decentralizing sports facilities, we’ve now decided to establish sports hubs in all eight divisions,” said the adviser while speaking to reporters.
He added that the UAE has shown keen interest in supporting the project after the proposal was raised by the Chief Adviser during his recent visit to the Gulf nation.
“Design and technical groundwork have already begun. We will disclose the budget details soon. Hopefully, we can begin construction in the upcoming fiscal year,” Sajib Bhuiyan said.
