Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has criticized Western nations for failing to impose sanctions on Israel amid its ongoing assault on Gaza.
Speaking at a conference in Istanbul on Friday, Erdoğan questioned why Western countries swiftly sanction others over minor incidents but remain silent on Israel’s aggression.
“We are not here to support a land or a people only,” he said. “We gather in solidarity with justice, peace, and resistance.”
He condemned Israel’s relentless attacks on Gaza, stating that the Israeli government is killing Palestinians indiscriminately—including women, children, doctors, and aid workers.
Citing statistics, Erdoğan noted that over 7% of Gaza’s population has been killed or disabled, and 212 journalists have lost their lives, including a woman who died with ten family members. He also highlighted the deaths of hundreds of healthcare workers and children due to shortages of medicine, water, and food.
