A joint force has arrested Asadur Rahman Akash (24) and his two associates on charges of engaging in terrorist activities and extortion under the guise of being a “student coordinator.” Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement personnel conducted a raid early Friday in Dakshinkhan area of Uttara, Dhaka, and detained them.
According to a press release issued by the joint forces, the operation was part of the ongoing efforts to maintain law and order and curb criminal activities across the country. The statement said that Akash had long been involved in extortion, case manipulation, running teenage gangs, and attacking journalists, while identifying himself as a “student coordinator.”

The press release further mentioned that since August last year, Akash and his associates had been collecting extortion money from various shops and business establishments in the Uttara area through intimidation. They also extorted large sums of money from individuals under the pretext of settling legal cases.
In one incident, CCTV footage clearly identified Akash assaulting a journalist, where he was seen grabbing the journalist by the neck and repeatedly punching him.

During interrogation, Akash confessed that he had operated several teenage gangs under the “student coordinator” identity and had been extorting money through violence, intimidation, and control over local markets.
Following the arrest, Asadur Rahman Akash, Farid Uddin (26), and Robin (25) were handed over to Uttara West Police Station.
A joint force official said, “Operations like this will continue to prevent unlawful activities and ensure the safety of citizens across the country.”
