BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has flown to Bangkok for urgent retinal surgery, accompanied by his wife Rahat Ara Begum.
According to BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan, Mirza Fakhrul departed Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:45 AM on Monday night via a Thai Airways flight.
Earlier that day, he experienced sudden eye complications and was rushed to United Hospital in Gulshan. Following medical examinations, doctors advised immediate retinal surgery. Upon their recommendation, an appointment was quickly secured at Bangkok’s renowned Rutnin Eye Hospital.
His personal assistant Yunus Ali informed that the family has requested prayers from the nation and BNP supporters for his swift recovery.
Notably, Fakhrul and his wife last traveled to Singapore for health checkups on April 6.
