BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged everyone to remain vigilant against alleged conspiracies, both at home and abroad, to deprive people of their voting rights. He made these remarks on Saturday afternoon at an event organized by Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP in Badda.
“We must stay alert. Conspiracies are underway domestically and internationally to once again rob you of your voting rights. We won’t let that happen. The plots haven’t ended yet, but we will thwart all schemes and establish a people’s government, InshaAllah,” Fakhrul declared.
Issuing a stern warning, he added, “I will cast my vote for whoever I please — that is the kind of election we want. We are still peaceful; we are reaching out to ordinary people with Eid and Iftar essentials, standing by them in times of joy and sorrow.”
Fakhrul cautioned that BNP is ready to return to the streets if the people’s interests are undermined. “If there is any disruption to public interests, BNP will take to the streets again. We know how to reclaim our demands,” he emphasized.
Highlighting alleged foreign interference, he said, “Wherever they may be — in the United States, France, or elsewhere — some try to incite people and create division. But we stand with the people, and no one can mislead us or the people of Bangladesh.”
Dismissing any allegiance to foreign nations, Fakhrul asserted, “We are not for India, Pakistan, America, or England — Bangladesh comes first. We are Bangladeshis. We will foil all conspiracies and establish a people’s government, InshaAllah.”
He also recalled the repression faced by BNP activists, claiming, “Around 90% of our leaders and activists were jailed. The Awami League government under Sheikh Hasina killed around 20,000 of our activists, disappeared 1,700, and filed false cases against 6 million people. Such oppression is rare in democratic history.”
Expressing gratitude, Fakhrul said, “We have come through that difficult phase. We thank Allah for His divine power, which suddenly made Hasina disappear as if by divine intervention. She has vanished temporarily, freeing people from her oppression.”
The event, held at Berayda Eidgah Ground on Madani Road in Badda, was organized to distribute Eid gifts among low-income people on behalf of BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman. The event was presided over by Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP Joint Convener Tohirul Islam Tuhin.
Liberty News’ political correspondent states that Prominent leaders, including Metropolitan North BNP Convener Aminul Haque, BNP’s Small Ethnic Groups Affairs Secretary MA Kaiyum, Joint Conveners SM Jahangir, Akhtar Hossain, Alfaz Uddin, AGM Shamsul Haque, and Gazi Rezaunul Hossain Riaz, were present at the event.
