An interview of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was published “incorrectly” on an Indian Bangla newspaper on Monday, the party claimed in a press release on Tuesday.

Therefore, the Bangladeshi reports based on the interview are also “wrong and misleading,” said the statement signed by BNP Media Cell Member Shairul Kabir Khan.

Fakhrul himself has asserted he gave no “such statement” during the interview with the Kolkata-based “Ei Samay”, the press release claimed, without specifying what the statements were.

As per the release, Fakhrul has urged journalists to refrain from publishing “the misleading news.” He has condemned the articles published in this regard, and requested the countrymen to not get confused by the “wrong news reports.”

As a senior politician Fakhrul, would never make such “groundless remarks,” which were attributed to him in the published interview, the statement clarifies.
