Fascist rehabilitation will be easier if political distance increases

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that it will be easier for the fugitive fascist circle to rehabilitate themselves if a distance is created among the democracy-loving political parties. For this, he has called on the pro-democracy people to stay vigilant.

He made these remarks as the chief guest while virtually joining a discussion meeting organized by the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebak Dal on the occasion of its 45th founding anniversary at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital yesterday.

The event was presided over by Swechchasebak Dal’s central president, S.M. Zilani, and conducted by General Secretary, Rajib Ahsan, while the organization’s secretary, Nazmul Ahsan, presented the organizational report.

Other speakers included BNP National Standing Committee members Nazrul Islam Khan, Begum Selima Rahman, Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General Habib-un Nabi Khan Sohel, Gazipur District BNP Convener Fazlul Haque Milon, BNP’s Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarfat Ali Sapu, Assistant Volunteer Affairs Secretary Abdul Quader Bhuiyan Jewel, and former Swechchasebak Dal President Mostafizur Rahman.

Tarique Rahman said that the statements of some of their “comrades-in-arms on the streets” in the anti-fascist movement regarding the election at a specific time have raised various questions in the minds of the pro-democracy people. Conveying a message to bridge the gap among the anti-fascist forces, Tarique Rahman said, “Seventy-one was the war to gain independence, and twenty-four is the war to protect independence.”

He said that after the most brutal fascist in history resigned and fled through the sacrifice of thousands of martyrs, it is a great insult to their sacrifice for the anti-fascist democratic forces to engage in unnecessary debate on new issues among themselves. He added that it is now the demand of the time to repay the debt of the martyrs’ blood by building a country based on democratic justice.

Emphasizing a shift from “politics of talk” to “politics of action,” the acting chairman of the BNP said that to ensure a secure future for the current and future generations, they must move away from conventional politics. He stressed that a qualitative change in the conventional political system must be brought about by adopting and implementing realistic plans instead of a politics of revenge, hatred, or mere talk.

Shedding light on the future direction of BNP’s politics, Tarique Rahman said that the party’s future politics would be about improving the lives of the people, whether at home or abroad, to create employment. He concluded by saying that another of their goals is to create a safe working environment.
