A fire broke out in the tent city of Prayagraj, one day after the stampede that claimed 30 lives at India’s Kumbh Mela. It is believed that many tents have been destroyed in the fire. According to Indian media reports, no casualties have been reported so far.

A fire broke out on Thursday in the tent city built at Nageshwar Ghat in Sector 22. Before the fire department could bring the situation under control, several tents were reduced to ashes.

The massive crowd at the fair has become a cause for concern. On Wednesday alone, a record 43.8 million people attended the Kumbh Mela.

Liberty News’ international correspondent reports that no casualties occurred as there were no people in the tents. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Earlier, on January 19, a fire broke out in Sector 19 of the Kumbh Mela. Nearly 180 tents at Geeti Press were completely destroyed.
