A fire that broke out at a textile factory, warehouse, and several shops in Chattogram’s Aturar Depot area has been brought under control after about an hour and a half. However, even after six hours, the fire has not been completely extinguished, with five fire service units still working to douse the flames.
The fire erupted around 2:50 PM on Sunday (March 9) near the northern gate of Amin Jute Mills in the Bayezid police station area.
Local sources estimate that the damage could exceed Tk 1 million, though the fire service has not provided any official assessment of the losses.
An operator at Chattogram Fire Service’s divisional control room told Liberty News’ correspondent that six units from Bayezid Bostami, Kalurghat, and Agrabad fire stations were deployed to control the blaze. While one unit from Agrabad has returned, the remaining units continue firefighting operations.
