Fire at top-floor factory in Mirpur building fully doused

A fire broke out at a community centre on Kalshi Road in Mirpur-12 on Friday night, causing panic among residents in the area.

The blaze originated on the sixth floor of Bibaho Bari Community Centre around 10:12pm, and firefighters reached the spot 15 minutes later, said Talha Bin Jashim, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters.
The sixth floor of the building reportedly hosts a garment factory.

Flames quickly spread through parts of the building, prompting emergency calls from locals.

Four fire-fighting units were deployed to the scene to bring the blaze under control, while two more units were on their way at the time of reporting.
The community centre is located next to Desh Polytechnic College.

No casualties were immediately reported, and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
