A man and his wife have been burned to death in a fire that broke out at their house in Hatiya upazila, Noakhali. The deceased have been identified as Nimai Chandra Majumder and his wife Milon Bala.
According to Hatiya Police Station OC AKM Ajmol Huda, speaking to Liberty News, the fire originated from a gas stove at Nimai Chandra’s house in Jorkhali village, under Burirchar union, around 3 a.m. on Friday. At the time of the fire, Nimai and his wife were asleep, resulting in severe burns to most of their bodies. Locals rushed them both to the Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.
Liberty News’ correspondent reports that Nimai succumbed to his injuries around 5 p.m. on Friday while being transported to Dhaka for better treatment, and his wife Milon Bala passed away at 9 p.m. upon arriving in Dhaka.
