First phase of the three-part World Ijtema will begin on Friday (January 31). The final preparations for the 58th World Ijtema are underway. This year, followers of Maulana Jubayer and the Sadeq faction will participate in the Ijtema in a single phase at the Turag River bank in Tongi, Gazipur.
The first phase will be from January 31 to February 2. The second phase will start on February 3 and conclude with the final prayer (Akhri Munajat) on February 5.
Although the followers of Maulana Jubayer were initially scheduled to hold their Ijtema from January 31 to February 2, they later decided to divide it into two phases.
The Ijtema of the Sadepahndi followers will begin on February 14 and conclude with the final prayer on February 16.
Liberty News’ national correspondent reports that preparations for the Ijtema ground near the Turag River are rapidly progressing. A speaking platform has been set up for local and foreign attendees on the north-west side. On the western side of the platform, accommodation for foreign guests has been arranged. The army has constructed five floating bridges across the Turag River to facilitate the movement of attendees. The BIWTA has also built a bridge, and the RAB has set up a CCTV control room at the Ijtema grounds.
