Shahjahanpur (Bogura) Correspondent: In a dramatic turn of events, locals in Shahjahanpur, Bogura, detained Ariful Islam Kajol, a former organizing secretary of the now-defunct Shahjahanpur Upazila unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), and handed him over to police on Thursday.
Kajol, a resident of Parthekhur village under Ashikpur Union, is currently employed as a Class IV staff (peon) at South Parthekhur High School.
According to local sources, he was found hiding in a room of the government cluster village (Guchhogram) in Domnopukur area of Majhira Union after reportedly being chased by residents. Upon capture, he was beaten by the mob before being handed over to Shahjahanpur police.
Locals have accused Kajol and his wife of misusing political influence to secure government jobs, alleging that neither of them attends work regularly.
Shahjahanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Wadud Alam confirmed the incident, stating, “Kajol was handed over by the public. He is a named accused in the murder case of Jubo Dal leader Forkan. He had been out on bail in connection with that case.”
