Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda was arrested on Sunday evening in the capital’s Uttara area, police have confirmed.
According to Md Hafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Uttara West Police Station, local residents detained Huda and handed him over to law enforcement.
Earlier in the day, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) filed cases against the chief election commissioners of the 2014, 2018, and 2024 national polls, accusing them of facilitating widespread electoral fraud.
A five-member BNP delegation, led by Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed, lodged the case at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, naming 24 individuals including former CEC Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed.
