A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed former reserved seat lawmaker Tamanna Nusrat Bubli and 16 other Awami League leaders on different terms of remand in a case filed with Tejgaon Police Station of the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saifuzzaman passed the order after the police produced them before the court, seeking a 10-day remand.
Among them, eight were placed on a two-day remand. They are Tamanna Nusrat Bubli, Mahbubul Haq Hirak, Alam Matbor, Abdur Razzak Shakil, Riaz Uddin Ahmed Manik, Nazrul Islam Sumon, Saiful Islam, and Fahad Hossain Babu.
The other nine accused were placed on a three-day remand. They are Naibur Rahman, Arif Molla, Solaiman Mia, Aziz, Faruk Hossain, Shihab Shahriar, Mamun, Injamul Haq, and Farhad Palwon.
On 28 September, Bubli was arrested in the capital’s Mirpur area.
According to the case documents, on 24 September, several leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Awami League, Jubo League, and now-banned Bangladesh Chhatra League and their associate bodies held a procession after gathering in front of the Ananda Cinema Hall under the Tejgaon Police Station area.
The procession then marched towards the Farmgate intersection, which created panic among the public. The police later filed a case with Tejgaon Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
